This was a hard week for everyone. A global pandemic has been announced. Many of our kids’ schools have been shut down for weeks. Many of our jobs are closed or asking us to stay home. We may be wondering about how we will work, manage our families, stay healthy, and have fun over the coming weeks.

For some individuals, this week brought the news that their Disney vacations had been cancelled. Kids and adults who had looked forward to their vacations, many of them traveling for the first time, were understandably upset and frustrated at their plans being changed.
Thankfully, Disney announced a flexible change or cancellation policy. This flexibility has allowed many families, including me, to reschedule plans to later this year. Though it hurt to put days back on my countdown calendar, I am excited to experience my favorite things when I return to Walt Disney World Resort. Here are my top five:

Number 5: The music. Disney’s theme parks are fully immersive. One of my favorite parts of being there is listening to the themed music. It is the best escape and makes me feel like I really am experiencing a walk down classic American streets, a land in a futuristic time, or a different country in the world.

Number 4: A ride on the Disney Skyliner. I am a huge fan of this new method of transportation at Walt Disney World. I love seeing the resort from a different perspective. I love how efficiently it allows you to go from place to place. Finally, I love that it allows me to visit different resorts easily (especially to eat!) even if I’m not staying there.

Number 3: The snacks. I love the snacks which are available and unique to Walt Disney World Resort. So much so that on my next trip, I am taking a whole tour about Disney snacks in the Magic Kingdom! Topping my list of favorites are: Mickey shaped cinnamon buns, dole whip floats, pepper jack pretzels, and classic Mickey premium ice cream bars.

Number 2: Night time shows. Walt Disney World has amazing entertainment all day long. My favorites by far, are the night time shows. Happily Ever After fireworks in Magic Kingdom is the top of the list for me. However, Epcot’s new HarmoniUS is coming soon and I’m crossing my fingers I will get to catch it on my next trip!

Number 1: At the top of my list is the newest attraction, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway! You can find this attraction in Hollywood Studios. Though the attraction was only open for a short time, the reviews are so positive. I’m excited to see the cutting edge projection technology and ride vehicles used in this new family-friendly attraction.

We all are going to experience some difficult days, but having hope and favorite things to look forward to can be a great way to weather through a tough time.
